Use AI to draft month-end commentary that cites a source figure for each claim, labels unproven causes as hypotheses with a named check, and passes a short evidence check before the CFO sees it.

What you will be able to do

  • Back every cause with a figure: Write variance comments where each cause cites a specific source figure, with period, currency, units and calculation method beside it, and a source location a colleague could find without asking you.
  • Call a guess a hypothesis: When the figures don't prove 'timing' or 'price', label it as a hypothesis in a consistent format and name the data check that would confirm or reject it.
  • Run an evidence check before it ships: Check a draft claim by claim, record the result, and remove or relabel anything without a traced number.
  • Get AI to draft from your figures only: Write a prompt that tells an AI tool to use only the figures you supply, cite a figure ID for each claim, and mark unproven causes as hypotheses. Then review its draft line by line.
  • Be upfront about weak inputs: Spot stale, provisional and unreconciled figures, write a short note on how each one limits a comment, and decide whether to qualify, relabel or hold that comment back.
