Someone sends two lines and a deadline. Use AI to draft a few clarifying questions and a one-page brief the requester signs off before you build anything. A 2-hour course for consultants and project leads.

What you will be able to do

  • See what a request leaves out: Sort a short ask into what is stated, implied and missing, and catch the gaps that only look like agreed requirements.
  • Ask fewer, better questions: Prompt an AI assistant for clarifying questions, then trim the list to the few that would change the work, written so a busy requester can answer in a line or by picking an option.
  • Write a one-page brief with AI: State the need, the audience, the decision it supports and the constraints, and edit the AI draft so it stays short and adds nothing the requester never said.
  • Separate facts from guesses: Label each point as confirmed, assumption or open, and turn inferred owners and deadlines into proposals instead of commitments nobody agreed to.
  • Get a clear sign-off: Send the brief with a short cover message that invites a confirm-or-correct reply, recognize when a reply is not really a yes, and follow up briefly.
  • Update without scope creep: Revise the brief from replies, show what changed and what stays accepted, and raise it with the requester when scope grows or an accepted requirement drops.
